This study examines the empowerment of knitting artisans through participatory art and design practices in Binong Jati Knitting Village, Bandung, Indonesia. Using a qualitative practice-based participatory approach, artisans collaborated with academics, designers, and practitioners through contextual observation, knowledge exchange, material exploration, creative experimentation, and collective reflection. Data were obtained from participatory observations, visual documentation, creative artifacts, activity records, and participant reflections. The findings indicate transformations from production-oriented practices toward creative exploration, from instruction toward active participation, and from artisans as producers toward creative participants. The study identifies participation, knowledge exchange, creative experimentation, and creative agency as key dimensions of creative empowerment, demonstrating the potential of participatory art and design to strengthen community-based creative capacity.
